relies on an enormous amount of computer power to process and
crunch data for clients. When it became obvious that more
computer space was needed, Agile hired a general contractor to
revamp the sixth floor of the company's downtown office. A new server room was planned for the redesigned floor, as well as an adjacent customer service call center. Like any server room, this one would be filled with tall racks of computer equipment. All those machines generate a lot of heat and the hum of the fans it would take to cool them was likely to cause noise problems in the nearby call center. |

West General, an illbruck distributor, was called in by the general contractor to solve the acoustical problem. "We needed to make sure we installed barriers to reduce sound transfer and increase absorption," says Tavius Dyer, project manager for West General.
Normally Dyer would give clients several options to choose from. But in this case, he knew there was only one product for the job. "I chose PROSPEC Composite because I knew they were the best choice economically, aesthetically and acoustically," says Dyer.
Another plus, Dyer says, is that the panels are Hypalon coated, making them easy to wipe clean, an important thing in a sever room where dust builds up quickly.
Made from illbruck's Class 1 fire-rated willtec® foam, PROSPEC Composite is an attractive solution for absorbing and containing noise and vibrations in a variety of settings.
The composite panels were installed so they completely covered the walls separating the server room from the call center. Agile is pleased with the results, telling Dyer that the call center is as quiet as they hoped it would be.
