Product mix helps Emmy-winning composer "save a room."

When composer Paul Hartwig began building out studios in an old downtown Minneapolis brick and timber building, he had no idea of the surprises that awaited him.

"Our Minneapolis studios are in an old wood-beam building that amplifies footsteps from other floors. It's an old building that has shifted over time. The floors were uneven. We had to pour four inches of concrete and float the floor. Even then we had significant room noise and coloration problems.

Paul Hartwig

After a lot of costly – and unexpected – construction, we were very nervous on how to handle the isolation room. We did our homework. To get it right, we felt illbruck was the only way to go. We used illbruck SONEX and flattened the room and took out all the ambient noise" notes Paul.

"We experimented in each room. The nice thing about illbruck soundproofing is that it's so dense – yet pliable. You'd have to put up twice as much of the other stuff – and it doesn't shred or disintegrate all over our gear" says engineer Ryan Rogers. "In fact, it helps get rid of gear noise, too" adds Ryan.

"illbruck saved a room that was destined for constant interruption and frustration."
Paul Hartwig, Composer, Hartwig Music.

"We noticed a difference immediately – almost as you put up each sheet of illbruck soundproofing. It took out the city noise, ambient noise, foot steps – it got rid of all the problems we were previously having in all the rooms" states Paul. "Now in 5.1 mixes we can really pinpoint sounds" adds Paul. "I've heard our mixes in other rooms. They come back sounding exactly the way we mixed them in our studios. I think illbruck soundproofing gives you an accurate sound from the start" says Paul.

"It sounds great around here. And it looks good, too. In the end, illbruck products saved our isolation room" notes Paul.
